| Driver Bio |
17-year-old Daniel Morad can already look back on several
achievements in his young racing career. Last year he
won the Formula BMW USA Rookie Championship and in 2007
he will return to the Formula BMW USA championship with
a BMW Junior scholarship, received for winning the Rookie
title. Morad was also the most successful driver of the
North American series in the Formula BMW Word Final,
finishing fourth in Valencia, Spain. The Markham, Ontario-born
Canadian earned many regional and national titles in
his eight years of karting. He was a member of the Sunoco
Team Ultra 94 and also won the 2006 Bridgestone F2000
Championship.
Daniel’s family plays an important role in his career and another person
who has been instrumental in Daniel’s career is Canadian racing legend
Ron Fellows. Ron had a great impact on Daniel choosing Formula BMW USA. Ron was
one of the first who congratulated Daniel on winning the Rookie title after an
exciting final race of the season at Mosport International Raceway.
Besides his
promising racing career Daniel has another obligation everyone in his age has
to fulfill – school. But the way he handles school is kind of different
from other teenagers and he explains, “I am 17 years old and have been
racing since I was 8 years old. It is been tough to manage my time especially
with school, but I have gotten used to it. I do most of my school work on the
road or on the plane.”
Not everything in Daniel’s life revolves around school and racing. The
youngster likes traveling and meeting people, plays soccer and tennis, and just
started to get into paintball. Besides racing, soccer is Daniel’s main
sport to keep in shape and to get a good cardio and physical workout. |
