Meet Daniel Morad:

Many of the great racers of a time gone by could be summed up in one word, "passion". Daniel Morad is one such driver and while he is a product of the new global generation he has many old school qualities that make him a true driver. For Daniel he exudes passion with everything that he does. And what he does extremely well is go fast.

His passion for racing, his passion for family and his passion for life lead Daniel to excellence at every turn. Like all drivers, his path to racing is made up of highs and lows and his ability to push forward makes him stand out. Success has followed Morad through out his 12 years of competing and he now strikes out on a new adventure.

Daniel recently signed to Status GP running in the newly formed GP3 series part of the global GP ladder system to Formula One. In 2009 Daniel split his time between cars and his racing roots of karting. While the car-racing scene was less kind, karting allowed Daniel to represent his country in Egypt and the RMCGF. His passion will again bring Daniel back to the world stage of karting as a member of the 2010 Team Canada heading to Italy.

The 20-year-old athlete can already look back on several achievements in his young racing career. In 2007 he won the Formula BMW USA Championship after winning a series high six races. He became the first North American to win a heat race at the Formula BMW World Final in 2007, winning two heats, and started the final race on the pole position, only to have a mechanical failure on lap three ending his race prematurely. Morad was also the most successful driver of the North American series in the Formula BMW Word Final in 2006, finishing fourth in Valencia, Spain. The Toronto, Ontario-born driver earned many regional and national titles in his twelve years of racing. He was a member of the Sunoco Team Ultra 94 and also won the 2006 Bridgestone F2000 Championship.

In 2008, Daniel started the year in the Formula Atlantic Championship but before season's end, made the move to be the full time driver for Team Lebanon in A1GP.

Daniel's family plays an important role in his career and another person who has been instrumental in Daniel's career is Canadian racing legend Ron Fellows. Ron had a great impact on Daniel choosing Formula BMW USA. Ron was one of the first who congratulated Daniel on winning both Rookie and Series Championships.

Morad Drives from 21st to 12th in Hungary Race #2

August 1, 2010

Canadian-Lebanese driver Daniel Morad, starting from 21st on the grid after a stall on the line in yesterday's race, made good progress through the field in today's event. A strong start elevated the GMH Motorsport-backed driver to 15th and he then passed two more cars before finding himself delayed behind Rio Haryanto for the rest of the 18-lap race, unable to find a way through, and leaving him to finish a frustrated 12th place.

"I really felt at every stage that I could have gone around a second faster than we were lapping, but that's the nature of the track here with these cars - you just cannot get close enough to make a pass."
